I was elected to the VRC Committee in 2004, but my love for racing goes back many years.
As a young girl I went with my father, VRC Vet, John, to the stables and track work. On race days I went to the races with my mother and sisters while Dad worked. My Uncle David was on the VRC Committee for 20 years and Chairman from 1991 to 1998.
Although my career has been in the law, I have never lost my love and respect for the VRC and the traditions it upholds. My commitment to these values has involved chairing the VRC Disciplinary Committee during my past term on the Board.
I have raced a number of horses over the years with family and friends with modest success, mainly in country Victoria. Currently I am part of the ownership of Renegade and The Pugilist with Tony McEvoy and Mzuri Star trained by Henry Dwyer and am looking forward to my first win at Flemington.
Why I am seeking re-election
I am proud of the role I play on the Board to provide decisive leadership on issues of governance, integrity, compliance and equine welfare. The interests of VRC members has always been, and remains, my paramount focus.
As Chair of the Disciplinary Committee, my role is to ensure members continue to enjoy their race-day experience at the track and in the superb and safe standards of the facilities the current Board works so hard to achieve and exceed.
I always aim to be available and contactable on race days to discuss any issues of concern to members, and if re-elected, will continue to do so.
